Buderim home with farming history sells for $2.85 million

A Buderim home with links to one of the Sunshine Coast’s long-standing farming families has sold at auction for $2.85 million.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom property, at Residence Six, 21 Clearview Court, went under the hammer at a recent Avani in-room auction event.

The home was built by the late Peter Wise, an eighth-generation Maroochydore farmer, who died in 2024.

Family connection to the land

Mr Wise custom-built the home in 2010, with the design prepared by architects Blackburn and Jackson.

The property sits on a 3005sqm allotment on Buderim’s north-eastern escarpment, with views across the coast from Alexandra Headland to Mount Ninderry.

His daughters, Amanda and Kylie Wise, said their father had a strong connection to the land.

They said he was so devoted to his property that it was often difficult to convince him to stop for a break, even for a quick smoko.

The home was positioned so Mr Wise could look out over his farm from the property.

Local buyers secure the home

Ray White Mooloolaba sales agent Jacob Hussey said the auction attracted two registered bidders, with several conditional buyers also following the sale.

He said the property was bought by a Buderim-based couple with farming backgrounds.

Mr Hussey said the buyers were not actively looking for another home but became interested after seeing the property during the campaign.

He said they planned to enjoy the home and may move into it in the future.

Space for extended family

The property includes a self-contained lower level with its own driveway, single garage, kitchen and living area.

The space could suit multi-generational living or potential rental use.

The block also has drivable access to the lower section, with potential for a future subdivision or secondary dwelling, subject to council approval.

Family prepares to downsize

The sale comes as Mr Wise’s widow, Ivy, prepares to downsize from the property.

Mr Hussey said the result was a significant moment for the Wise family as they prepared to move on from the Buderim home.

Maroochydore’s New CBD Boosts Real Estate Growth In Sunshine Coast

According to real estate analysts, Maroochydore City Centre’s development helps boost real estate growth amongst surrounding suburbs of the Sunshine Coast.

The first stage of the Maroochydore City Centre was unveiled in August 2019 after more than a decade of careful planning by the local Council and the State Government. This city-making project has a full timeline of 20 years of construction and is estimated to cost $ 2.1 billion.

The City Centre is viewed as one of the largest CBD projects to be accomplished on a green field in Australia due to its size of 53 hectares.

According to SunCentral’s CEO, John Knaggs, once the entire CBD is complete, it would strengthen the entire region by providing sustainable infrastructures for the purpose of commercial, retail, residential, and civic uses.

Included amongst infrastructure developments that are soon to rise in the region are the expansion of the Sunshine Coast Airport and the completion of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

“Maroochydore’s CBD will be at the heart of a region where unprecedented investments in private and public infrastructure are being made,” said Knaggs.

“Maroochydore’s new CBD is expected to create more than 15,000 permanent jobs on the Sunshine Coast and bring in more than $ 4.4 billion to the local economy.”

Real Estate Growth in Sunshine Coast Suburbs

With Maroochydore City Centre slowly taking shape, the demand for real estate in nearby Sunshine Coast suburbs has significantly increased.

real estate report by analyst Terry Ryder shows a 37% increase in average property prices in the suburbs of Sunshine Coast last 2019. Specifically, Twin Waters suburbs grew 21%, Mooloolaba by 14%, Sunshine Beach by 37%, and Doonan by 19%.

“The new CBD is at the heart of this growth. It provides a center for the growing economy and employment opportunities of the Sunshine Coast while helping to boost housing price increases in the region,” said Ryder.

“Population growth leads to higher demand for real estate, which in turn leads to higher values.”
