With the Palaszczuk’s Government $250 million funds to be allocated to schools across the state as part of their 2020 Ready Program, Sunshine Coast schools are looking forward to building more infrastructure to better accommodate the influx of students starting 2020.
Mountain Creek State High will receive a $20.2-million funding as part of the program. It will be used to build a three-storey secondary learning centre with additional classrooms and three new STEM learning spaces, three science, and two robotic labs.
The Chancellor State College will receive $12.7 million, which will be used for building additional classrooms. Coolum State High School, on the other hand, will receive $5.7 million for additional classrooms as well.
A new classroom building will be built at Kawana Waters State College via its $3.4 million funds from the 2020 Ready Program.
The $250 million funds from the government will support the 17,000 additional students across Queensland following two educational reforms that took place in the past years.
Education Minister Grace Grace said that the funds are a major boost and will help increase the capacity of secondary schools.
“The ‘2020 Ready’ program signals the next phase of Queensland’s major education reforms, which started more than a decade ago,” she said.
“This new $250 million investment for additional classrooms will prepare those schools identified as requiring additional capacity for the additional students expected in 2020.”
